The heads of government of the CIS countries intend to discuss joint measures in May to minimize the impact of Western sanctions on the economies, Leonid Anfimov, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, told reporters on Wednesday.

According to him, the task is to develop common approaches to minimize the impact of the sanctions that fell both Belarus and Russia, because they will affect the efficiency of the economies of all Commonwealth countries.

Anfimov believes that the CIS countries should jointly resist the "negative impact of Western sanctions." In particular, to implement joint projects, to accelerate the investment and innovation projects that were planned earlier, when the economies were working "under normal conditions."

"These projects should be activated in order to reduce dependence on the import component of the total economy of the CIS countries," he said.

He pointed out that projects in the field of high technologies, electronics, and mechanical engineering are promising.
