Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan plans to visit Saudi Arabia on Thursday and meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Reuters reported, citing two sources with information on the matter.

Earlier this month, Turkey decided to hand over the court case over the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul to Saudi Arabia.

Turkey has been trying to mend its relations with the Gulf states in hopes of securing economic support as it faces skyrocketing inflation exacerbated by rising energy prices.

Meanwhile, Middle East Eye quoted sources as saying that although the visit was scheduled for Thursday, it may be postponed due to scheduling problems.

Three and a half years after Saudi Arabia announced a boycott of Turkish goods over the Khashoggi case, Saudi Arabia's crown prince will try to use Erdogan's visit as leverage to finally end the Khashaggi case, the portal notes.
