Gazprom recalled that several years ago an explosive device was found near the Nord Stream pipeline, a representative of the company, Sergey Kupriyanov, told the story.

According to him, it happened in November 2015. "During a routine inspection of the Nord Stream-1 pipeline, a NATO underwater mine destroyer Sea Fox was found. It was lying in the space between the pipelines," he said. The representative of Gazprom also said that the device was found at a depth of 40 meters. "Then the explosive device was extracted by the Swedish armed forces. NATO said that the underwater fuse was lost in the exercise," Kupriyanov added, according to Lenta.

The Nord Stream pipeline laying has been started in 2010, in 2012 the gas started to be supplied in commercial regime.

The leakage of North Streams occurred as a result of an explosion on September 26. The accidents were fixed in territorial waters of Sweden and Denmark. Europe, the US and Russia called the incident an act of sabotage.
