Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told journalists that the country expects Iran to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the investigation of the attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy and provide relevant information.

"We expect our neighbor Iran to cooperate with the Azerbaijani side on this terrorist attack - who was behind it, why this act was committed. There should be an open exchange of information about this," he said, adding that those involved in the incident should be brought to justice.

The minister also expressed condolences to "brotherly" Azerbaijan.

Earlier, a man armed with a Kalashnikov assaulted Azerbaijani Embassy in Tehran. The head of the security service was killed and two other guards were wounded. The perpetrator was detained. During interrogation, he confessed that he had committed the attack because of family problems. He thought that his wife, who had stopped contacting him in April 2022, was in the embassy building.
