A highly radioactive capsule, which posed a danger to people, was lost in Australia, was found in Western Australia, the information was confirmed by the state Minister for Emergency Management Stephen Dawson, ABC News reported.

Earlier, the mining company Rio Tinto claimed that it had lost a highly radioactive capsule in Western Australia.

Preliminarily, the capsule went missing on its way from the Pilbara region to a warehouse in the state capital, Perth.

Experts explained that prolonged contact with the capsule could cause burns, radiation sickness and cancer.

The loss of the capsule has resulted in an unprecedented public safety alert of more than 1,400 kilometers.
