Thirteen members of the parliament of the Netherlands have called on the foreign minister of the country to take steps towards ending the blocking of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan and the restoration of uninterrupted access to Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), reports the Federation of Armenian Organisations in The Netherlands (FAON).

These lawmakers urged Dutch Foreign Minister Wopke Hoekstra to express an unequivocal position regarding the implementation of the recent decision by the International Court of Justice, according to which Azerbaijan must take all necessary measures to end the blockade and ensure the unhindered movement of people, vehicles, and cargo in both directions of the Lachin corridor.

Also, these MPs issued an inquiry to the head of the foreign ministry of the Netherlands as to what steps Amsterdam plans to take so that the authorities of Azerbaijan implement the aforesaid court's decision.

MPs ask if the minister took note of the fact that the Azerbaijani ambassador to the Netherlands made provocative tweets about the "ongoing peaceful action of an NGO," which once again highlights the complete disregard of the International Court of Justice ruling by Azerbaijani officials, FAON added.

According to the FAON, the aforementioned members of the Dutch Parliament also want to know what steps the Netherlands will take within the EU, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations for the immediate implementation of the court's decision.

Also in its message, FAON thanks the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands for the statement issued recently calling on Azerbaijan to comply with the legally binding decision of the International Court of Justice.
