Could Turkey have assisted, provided means and aid to Azerbaijan during the 44-day war in 2020 if it had not received permission from the US? No. Russian political scientist Feodor Voitolovsky asked this during the Armenian-Russian media forum on Friday.

"Could Turkey have coordinated its actions with Baku without informing the leadership of the NATO command headquarters? Why did the US allow Turkey and Baku to do what they did? To whom does Turkey owe? Who is the leading donor of Turkish banks? Who is the Turkish client of various international projects, including in Iraq and Syria?

"Why did the US do what is happening in Artsakh [(Nagorno-Karabakh)] from the point of view of the humanitarian situation? Because that way it gets influence levers on the situation. It is aimed at weakening Russia and Armenia, as a weak Armenia is easier to manage," the Russian analyst added.

Voitolovsky noted that the US declares the need to unblock the Lachin corridor, but maintains contacts with Azerbaijan.
