The question of whether or not the Russian peacekeepers will stay in Nagorno-Karabakh does not depend only on us because we also know that Russia is in certain discussions with Azerbaijan on this topic. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this in an interview to Public Television, addressing the question of whether the Russian peacekeepers should stay in Nagorno-Karabakh now that there are practically no Armenians left there.

"They have discussions with us as well. I cannot give a very direct and concrete answer in connection with this question," Pashinyan said.

To the program host’s question that if the Russian peacekeepers leave Nagorno-Karabakh, could they come to and stay in Armenia, the Prime Minister responded. "I don't see any logic in that because they are the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh. If they leave Nagorno-Karabakh, they should go [back] to Russia. [It’s] another question [that] will they go to Russia through Azerbaijan or through Armenia? I don't think it's a matter of principle, but there is no and there cannot be legal justification for their stay in Armenia."

To the question whether there is an issue of the 102nd Russian military base staying or not in Armenia, taking into account that Armenia may be attacked tomorrow and Russia will again declare that the Armenia-Azerbaijan border is not demarcated, Pashinyan answered: "The grounds for the presence of the Russian military base in Armenia are very clear, these grounds continue to exist, and we do not raise any questions related to it."
