The statement made by the European commissioner for enlargement and European neighborhood policy Stefan Fule that the EU will hence play a more active role in settling conflicts in the region is the confirmation of the February 27 decision, Armenian political scientist Sergey Minasyan told the reporter of Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“The commissioner confirmed the EU’s decision about more involvement in the settlement of conflicts. The decision also concerns the EU’s admittance of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic and the realization of several projects in Karabakh,” Minasyan reminded.

According to Minasyan the involvement of the EU will benefit both Armenia and Azerbaijan.

“That will significantly reduce the tension in the region,” he stressed.

To note, during the meeting between the FMs of the nations of Visegrad group and EU member states the Karabakh conflict was not touched upon but the issue of unsolved conflicts was discussed.
