YEREVAN.- Presence of Artashes Geghamyan in the proportional list of the Republican Party of Armenia should not be regarded as surprise, said representative of the President at the National Assembly Garnik Isagulyan.
“He used to criticize the Republican Party but it does not mean he considered it an enemy. However, criticism is not enmity. For instance, leader of the opposition Armenian National Congress Levon Ter-Petrosyan was talking about balanced position during the dialogue with the coalition. After withdrawing from the dialogue, he voiced sharp criticism against the ruling parties,” he said.
Transition from one political party to another is typical not only to Armenia but foreign states as well.
Artashes Geghamyan held the post of Yerevan Mayor then founded National Unity party.
