YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: According to Zhoghovurd daily’s information, the draft law "On Amnesty" proposed by the RA Investigative Committee has been suspended.

Let us remind that last year the RA government had intended to amnesty the citizens who took part in the 44-day [Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh)] war [in Fall 2020], who are involved in criminal cases against the procedure of military service.

Moreover, the draft law "On Amnesty" proposed by the Investigative Committee had emphasized the assessment of the citizens standing with the Armed Forces of Armenia, and had emphasized that "this shows a humanitarian approach to the persons who have committed crimes against the procedure of military service."

Zhoghovurd daily found out that more than 1,600 criminal cases have been initiated in the prosecutor's office regarding the 44-day war.

(…) the amnesty process has now been suspended—moreover, for an indefinite period. It is not clear why, by whose instruction, for what political objective.

Moreover, let us note: the participants of the war have not maliciously avoided, but in many cases simply fled, escaped from the drones, and now it is not so fair to judge them.
