YEREVAN. – Britain is interested in increasing investments in Armenia, Ambassador Jonathan Aves said on Monday.

The diplomat recalled that several British companies are working in Armenia, pointing at HSBC as one of the biggest investors. Besides, British companies have invested in pharmaceutical industry, but the general situation is not satisfactory, he said speaking about the volume of investments.

Ambassador Aves said the UK government wants to encourage British companies to make more investments in Armenia.

Among the possible directions he mentioned participation of Britain’s Lydian International in Amulsar gold mine exploitation.

The diplomat believes this program will be useful for Armenia, as it will create new jobs, will bring revenues to the budget and will serve as an example of cooperation.
