As of Tuesday, October 1, the United States has entered the fiscal year without an approved budget, and therefore the funding of the country’s state agencies is suspended.
President Barack Obama’s staff has ordered that activities of several state agencies be halted.
Obama himself stated, however, that he will try to make the Congress reopen the government as soon as possible.
He also noted that the army should continue to work, but he did not rule out the possibility that the majority of the state employees will have to take an unpaid leave, Gazeta.ru reports citing Reuters news agency.
