YEREVAN. – Armenia remains determined to further the relations with the European Union (EU).
Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian noted the aforesaid, on Tuesday in Brussels, during his talk with Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, informs the Armenian MFA press service.
Nalbandian stressed that Armenia wants to have a closer, deeper and broader cooperation when building relations with the EU.
“We are determined to continue the reform process [in Armenia]. [And] we expect the EU’s continued assistance in this process,” the Armenian FM stressed, in particular.
He also underscored the Armenia-EU cooperation in the domain of mobility, and noted that there is a serious potential in sectoral cooperation, too.
On her part, Catherine Ashton stressed that the EU remains committed to deepening relations with Armenia in all areas that are compatible with Armenia’s recently announced new commitments to the Customs Union.
The interlocutors also discussed the preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit to be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, at the end of November.
And in the context of Armenia’s current Chairmanship at the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers, Edward Nalbandian and Catherine Ashton reflected on the cooperation between the Council of Europe and the European Union.
