YEREVAN. – There was disappointment, at the Vilnius summit of the European Union Eastern Partnership (EU EaP) Summit, that future cooperation within the framework of the EaP could reduce, or completely fade away.

Armenia’s Yerevan Press Club President Boris Navasardyan said the aforementioned at a press conference on Thursday.

Navasardyan recently returned from the Lithuanian capital city Vilnius, where he participated in the civic forum that was held simultaneously with the EU EaP Summit.

He noted that there was a view in Vilnius that Armenia lacks clear ambitions and it is not worthy of the attention of the international community.

The journalist stated that Armenia wanted so that there would be general provisions about Nagorno-Karabakh on any document, and the EU just went along with Armenia’s wishes and this was a huge concession.

In addition, as per Navasardyan, the long years, which are required for Armenian products toward competitiveness in the European market, likewise played a certain role in the above-said disappointment in Vilnius.

Navasardyan, however, did accept that the European organizations also have to be blamed to some extent for what occurred, since they supported the incumbent Armenian authorities in the previous three years by considering the results of the country’s rigged elections to be democratic.
