Solemn events timed to the start of Nord Stream trans-Baltic pipeline construction took place on April 9 on Russia’s Baltic Sea coast near the town of Vyborg.
RF President Dmitry Medvedev, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Hans-Ulrich Engel — BASF Member of the Board of Executive Directors and Chairman of the Board of Directors Rainer Seele attended the event.
Nord Stream gas main of 1.200 km is a new route of Russian gas transporting to Europe. Pipeline will run down the Baltic Sea — from Vyborg to Greifswald (Germany). Underwater pipe-laying works in the Baltic Sea commenced this Tuesday.
The construction start of the second line is scheduled for March 2011 and due to be completed in 2012.
