YEREVAN. – Armenian Agricultural Minister Sergo Karapetyan said 67 farmer cooperatives were created in Armenia in 2013.
“Effectiveness of farms can be increased only through collective farming,” he said, adding that many expenses are reduced with the larger scale.
The Ministry set a task of development of cooperatives last year and it will become a priority in 2014.
“We are pleased with the results, as farmers’ profits grew considerably. The cooperatives solve the problem of selling goods easier,” the Minister said.
Support for the establishment and operation of cooperatives will continue with the help of consultation with international agencies, he assured.
