Turkey was closely involved in the future of Nakhchivan and will continue to do so, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told the reporters after the meeting with Parliamentary Chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov.
Asked on Kars Treaty, Davutoglu said there was no doubt about the legal efficacy of the document. “Turkey is obviously the guarantor of Nakchivan status. This is a requirement of international law and Turkey's commitment,” Davutoglu said adding Nakhckivan's security and welfare is Turkey's too.
Davutoglu and Talibov discussed economic and cultural ties. “We will make efforts Turkish Airlines (THY) launch flights from Istanbul to Nakhchivan shortly,” Turkish FM said.
Talibov also held a 1-hour meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Cihan agency reports.
