At the beginning of April 29 plenary session of Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), French deputy Jean-Claude Mignon read out a statement, denouncing Armenian Genocide.

He said the statement is open for signing to anyone. Representatives of over 15 states, including the Great Britain joined the written statement.

The recognition of Armenian Genocide will assist the honour for human dignity and prevention of crimes against humanity. Referring to the recognition of genocide by different countries, the Assembly members urge to take the necessary steps for the recognition of Armenian Genocide, perpetrated in Ottoman Empire in 1915. According to the statement, these moves contribute to the recognition of Genocide by Turkey, as well as furthering Armenia-Turkey normalization process and establishment of peace in the region, Armenian Azg daily reads.
