As much as 55% of gas received by Azerigas from Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) mystically disappears, Our Way (Nash Put) Azeri newspaper reads.
Loss of large part of gas is an acute problem for Azerigas, say the experts of Azerbaijani Center for Economic and Social Development. The major losses are registered in Baku – 65%.
In contrast, gas loss in Russia makes 9% and in Kazakhstan – 11%. The average indicator in CIS states reaches 8%. Thereby, gas loss in Azerbaijan six times exceeds the commonwealth indicators.
According to Azerbaijani experts, outdated system and non-registered gas lines entail losses in the country. Non-registered gas is illegally sold to consumers and companies, whereas income is peculated. This part of gas is also registered as loss.
Asked about gas loss in Armenia, ArmRusgazprom representative informed NEWS.am that the indicator totals 2.5% in the republic, while in Yerevan — 3-3.5%.
