YEREVAN. – The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Karen Andreasyan, on Monday received US Ambassador John Heffern.  

The interlocutors reflected on Armenia’s legal system. Specifically, they discussed the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Special Investigation Service, and Investigation Committee of the country.

In addition, they reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in several domains of mutual priority.  

Ambassador Heffern highly praised the vigorous activities by Andreasyan and his staff, and despite their limited human resources.   

The ombudsman, for his part, attached importance to the US Embassy’s role in the strengthening of democratic values and the protection of human rights in Armenia. Karen Andreasyan also stressed the importance of deepening the Armenian-American friendly relations.
