Concert in memory of the Armenian composer Komitas will take place in the Italian town of Recoaro, not far from Vicenza on August 16.

According to the local newspaper Il Giornale di iVicenza, the concert will take place in the mountain climbers’ house by Campogrosso mountain heights. It will be held by Italian musicians, one of whom, Giuseppe Dal Bianco, will play duduk, while two others - Giuseppe Laudanna and Mauro Lazzaretti – will play piano and perform vocal program respectively.

“Komitas is known by all Armenians worldwide; he became a person, who is immensely respected. Komitas was not killed, but he managed to see the most evil cruelties against his nation and the murder of many loved ones. Experiencing such sufferings, he was struck by mental illness in 1919. He died in 1935. Komitas was a singer, chapel master, collector of ethnic music, musical manuscript expert and liturgy reformer,” the newspaper writes.
