At his meeting withy journalists Oct. 8, Armenian Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan reported the following information on complaints against government agencies his office received this January-September: 372 complaints against the Yerevan Municipality; 169 complaints against village administrations; 155 complaints against police; 113 complaints against courts; 99 complaints against the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.

Harutyunyan reported 3,140 people applied to his office for help. The office received 2,272 complaints, with 857 of them being written ones. The Ombudsman’s office initiated discussions on 309 complaints, sent 40 complaints to other agencies, and declined 271 complaints. The office explained to 95 complainants their rights and freedoms, and is considering 142 complaints.

Harutyunyan said that positive decisions were made in 38 cases, and 256 people were restored to their rights.
