Brazilian entrepreneur and billionaire Eike Batista, who is accused of money laundering arrived to Rio de Janeiro, where police arrested him, reports Reuters. Last week, the Brazilian police issued an international warrant to detain the millionaire.
Batista arrived to Rio de Janeiro from New York. He had earlier announced about his intention to surrender to the authorities. 60-year-old millionaire is suspected of bribing former governor of Rio de Janeiro Sergio Cabral (the amount of 16.5 million US dollars). According to Forbes, Batista’s fortune in 2012 totaled $ 30 billion, which made him the richest man in Brazil.
