Philippine’s President Rodrigo Duterte has cautioned the United States about abandoning the construction of military facilities in the Philippines. He also threatened to cancel the military agreement, if the United States does not withdraw from the construction, reports Xinhua.

"They’re unloading arms in the Philippines now…I’m serving notice to the armed forces of the United States, do not do it, I will not allow it," said Duterte.

"If the US persists, I would reconsider the military agreement, and eventually, I might possibly cancel it," he said, stressing that the military agreement signed in 1998, prohibited the construction of permanent military facilities in the Philippines.

Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana gave an interview to the local media, announcing that Duterte was concerned about construction purposes. Earlier Lorenzana said, that the United States this year will begin the construction of military structures at the military base.
