YEREVAN. - The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) candidates are the most competitive and known ones and the April 2 elections will prove this.

Spokesperson for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Eduard Sharmazanov, told the aforementioned to journalists after the session of the RPA Executive Body on Thursday.

 “We no longer have a majority election procedure: this is a proportional election,” Sharmazanov said.

Referring to Lori province, the Spokesperson noted: “Specifically in Lori province we have a very competitive list. I will vote for the RPA and support all the nominated candidates without exception.”

Touching on the news circulated in media regarding election bribes, Sharmazanov said: “Our team negatively assesses the election bribe and all the illegal phenomena. We have a precise instruction to run a transparent campaign. It is difficult to reveal the cases of election bribe, since the voter doesn’t complain. At this stage, these news are more of sensational announcements. It is unlikely for anyone to do something two months before the elections...”

Sharamaznoav also stressed that the RPA will run its campaign exclusively in the manner prescribed by law, although he didn’t rule out that misinformation may be disseminated on that the RPA is offering a bribe. According to him, these are dirty techniques which aren’t new and are used not only in Armenia. “If we are speaking about hearing, then I should say I also hear certain opposition forces give different promises,” he said.

Referring to the arrest of foreign Armenian FM Vartan Oskanian’s son, Sharmaznaov said: “There is a legal issue here: Mr Oskanian’s son has been released in the manner prescribed by law. Regardless of whose son one is, we are all equal before the law.”
