YEREVAN. – Some forget that the root of the Cyprian problem is occupation of part of Cyprus by Turkish army, Foreign Minister of Greece Nikos Kotzias stated during a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian in Yerevan on Friday.

Referring to negotiations in Geneva, the minister noted that Turkey must recognize occupation and leave the island. However, once the parties touched upon this problem during  talks, the representative of Turkey left the meeting, referring to urgent matters.

“The Turkish side demands things that were not on the negotiation table or out of competence of the Cypriot side.  And they concern the relations of Turkey and the EU. It seems that they are raising such questions, because they do not want to discuss the problem itself,” the minister noted.

 According to him, Turkey has many disagreements in economics and politics, and it is hard to solve them without democracy. The authorities of this country are afraid of a coup, but at the same time they treat others scornfully, the Greek minister added.
