YEREVAN. - It is hard for countries with limited resources in the age of global changes, considering the challenges related to high turbulence and new threats.

Defense Minister of Armenia, Vigen Sargsyan, said the aforementioned, speaking at the Yerevan session of Valdai International Discussion Club entitled “Time of Change: The World in an Era of Global Unpredictability.”

“We live in interesting times and in an interesting region,” he noted. Touching on the dimensions of interstate structure, as well as regional and international development, the minister noted that the construction of a new paradigm of social relations is peculiar to all the states of the contemporary world. Changes in the identification of the regions themselves are taking place at a regional level, he said.

“In terms of the post-war structure of the systems, the failed exams of international law are apparent,” the minster stressed. In this context, he pointed to the growing role of China, change in the role of U.S., which is looked upon as a leader but is also undergoing self-isolation.

Furthermore, Sargsyan stressed that Armenia builds a system of security not based on conflicts of interest but on their community. “This may make an impression of uncertainty but in reality this is the openness, which allows not to divide everything into black and white, but create a pallet and develop cooperation instead. We clearly understand that without deep cooperation and search for joint decisions, the international community will feel the growing pressure from the transnational terrorism,” the minister noted.
