YEREVAN. - People in the Armenian provinces are cautious when attending the election campaign rallies of the opposition, member of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), Aram Manukyan, told journalists on Monday.

“People are threatened to be sacked. There are different threats which result in cautiousness in the provinces. We had three meetings in Ararat province yesterday. For instance, seeing that there were no journalists, more people came to our campaign in Jrashen than in Artashat, where there were more recordings, and the people were afraid to participate,” Manukyan said.

According to him, the authorities keep the people in the climate of fear.

Nevertheless, the ANC representative assured that they manage to disseminate their peace program. “Our peace program is disseminating, though slowly. People agree with it but they are caution when expressing themselves on that idea.”
