YEREVAN. - Mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan, who ranks the second on the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) candidate list, rules out the fact that the RPA offers bribe to voters.

To the observation on the gossips regarding the gathering of the people’s passport data are offering of bribes instead, the Mayor said: “During the campaign such talks always take place. But we don’t have precise facts to be able to talk about this.”

He also noted bribes are ruled out. “Apparently, we rule out and condemn bribes. This is not allowed by law and we condemn such cases, regardless of whether our teammates or the representatives of other teams are engaged in them.”

Asked whether the support provided to socially vulnerable families is not a bribe, he said: “This is a social service. We periodically support and help the socially vulnerable families. This doesn’t mean that during the elections we shouldn’t support our citizens, who need help from the community. We also have a number of benevolent dining halls in Yerevan, which have about 5000 beneficiaries. Now should we not feed them?”
