YEREVAN. – Armenia should be pragmatic, and remain in the positions of the winner.

Aram Manukyan—who is secretary of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) faction at the National Assembly of Armenia, ANC Party Vice-Chairman, and the Congress-PPA [i.e. the People’s Party of Armenia] Alliance’s MP candidate for the forthcoming parliamentary election—stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

In his words, the Congress-PPA election platform is a means to put Azerbaijan in a pitiable state. Accordingly, this country will sign an agreement, under which de jure peacekeepers will be deployed in its territory; but this will happen if Armenia joins the proposal by the superpowers.

“If Armenia joins the [OSCE] Minsk Group Co-Chairs, it will joint the view of the superpowers—the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs: Russia, France, and the US,” said Manukyan. “And if now the mediators are able to put parity between then two sides [in connection with the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict], they will not be able to [do this] at that time; and we will get broad tactical opportunities. At that time ,Azerbaijan will consider whether or not to go against the troika of the co-chairs.”
