YEREVAN. - We record that the Armenian-Russian strategic ally relations are dynamically developing in all directions.
Spokesperson for the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), Eduard Sharmazanov, told the aforementioned to journalists on Thursday after the RPA Executive Body session, referring to President Serzh Sargsyan’s visit to Russia.
“The presidents of both states made a joint statement on Artsakh, which considered the military solution of the conflict unacceptable, making reference to its settlement on the basis of the Minsk Group format. We record that the Armenian-Russian strategic ally relations are dynamically developing in all directions. There is mutual understanding in terms of the general regional developments.”
Referring to the statement of Russian FM Sergey Lavrov on that Moscow is ready to support the talks between Armenia and Turkey when they start, in particular, in terms of the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border, Sharmazanov said: “Several days ago the President also touched on the regional developments, Armenia’s role, frozen conflicts and borders, and Lavrov, apparently, expressed his stance. There was nothing new. We are for relations without precondition. It is only within our interests to have a predictable neighbor and build more long-term relations with it. But Turkey is currently not predictable for us: there can be no development as long as it doesn’t ratify the protocols without preconditions,”Sharmazanov said, adding that Armenia is not ready to normalize its relations with any state at the expense of its national dignity.
