“Mr. Harutyunyan is not an ordinary citizen of Armenia, but rather someone about whom scandalous stories were told. To this day, Hovhannes Harutyunyan has not received any punishment for plagiarism, and swearing at and beating a student. Furthermore, by leaving Armenia, we can assume that he chose to best way to avoid punishment, and it actually became successful. The institution, which he headed for numerous years, has no information on his whereabouts and the reasons for his departure, or they did not wish to say. [But] The only thing ascertained was that the term for Harutyunyan’s reelection has expired, and that is why he relinquished his spot in the new elections,” Aravot writes.
