YEREVAN. - Parties created around oligarchs and oligarchs leading those parties cannot become an alternative for the current regime as they are part of it, leader of Armenian New Times party Aram Karapetyan announced at a press conference on Friday.
Karapetyan compared Russian Pravoye Delo leader Mikhail Prorokhov’s case with the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) leader Gagik Tsarukyan.
Answering to the question in how many days the party will be taken from Tsarukyan Karapetyan said in five days.
“It can be taken in less than 5 days. The government is already taking steps towards that by discovering drug addicts among PAP members and by conducting tax inspections. Gagik Tsarukyan leads a party, has ministerial portfolios, administrative resources and at the same time tries to come up as opposition,” he added.
According to Karapetyan, the government conducts a special policy for opposition oligarchs: give up your capital, give up your administrative options, give all that up, become one of those standing in the square and only then declare that you are opposition.
