YEREVAN. – Even though Armenia’s representatives did not receive any medals at senior world and European judo championships, Armenian Judo Federation Vice President Davit Khitaryan gave a good evaluation to the performances of Armenian athletes.      

“We are happy with results of the young judoists’ performances, since they brought metals from world and European championships. [And] If the seniors likewise had brought metals from official competitions, we would have given an excellent evaluation to our judoists’ performances for this year,” Davit Khitaryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.         

Khitaryan also added that Armenia’s two leading judoists, namely, Hovhannes Davtyan (60 kg) and Armen Nazaryan (66 kg), also performed well in 2011, because they gathered Olympic points in numerous competitions, and practically qualified for the 2012 London Olympics.
