Works of Armenian artist impress visitors in Los Angeles

Karen Sargsyan cuts and glues paper with virtuosity and humor, The Los Angeles Times writes.

Karen Sargsyan was born in Armenia and lives in Amsterdam. By creating tri-dimensional figures, which make Frankenstein’s Monster seem bizarre, even lovely, the artist invites visitors to a world where everything is fake and thus more frightening. Sargsyan shows the madness of modern life in his first solo exhibition Prisoners of Conscience in Los Angeles.

Ambach & Rice, the biggest of two galleries, is full of small, middle size and even life size figures made from paper. Most of Sargsyan’s figures resemble samurai.
