YEREVAN. - Armenia’s National Assembly (NA) Speaker Samvel Nikoyan and PM Tigran Sargsyan have established special relations, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.
“Our sources claim they meet one another frequently and consult on most various political personnel matters. According to the observers, Nikoyan and Sargsyan are united by a shared interest. More simply put, Nikoyan must help Tigran Sargsyan to remain PM, and Sargsyan must help Nikoyan to remain NA Speaker after the [parliamentary] elections, too. At present, they have a problem of not allowing [former NA Speaker} Hovik Abrahamyan being included in the top three of [the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia] RPA’s proportional list, and seeing to it that the first be [President] Serzh Sargsyan, second, Tigran Sargsyan, [and] third, Samvel Nikoyan. According to our information, [capital] Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan will be fourth in the list. This means Hovik Abrahamyan will be in fifth place at best,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
