The intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Armenia and Georgia is an important format. This was stated by visiting Georgian foreign minister Maka Botchorishvili at a joint press conference with her Armenian colleague, Ararat Mirzoyan, in Yerevan Thursday.

The 14th meeting of the aforesaid intergovernmental commission will be held in Yerevan today.

"Its importance is that it is chaired by the prime ministers of the two countries. Armenia and Georgia have strong relations in various domains, shared interests, and we want to further deepen relations in the domains of economy, transport, environment, tourism," the Georgian FM noted, confirming her country's readiness to support the strengthening of peace and stability in the region and facilitate the process of normalizing of relations between neighbors.

Armenian foreign minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed solidarity with his Georgian counterpart's assessments of the importance of the aforementioned commission meeting, but left it to the prime ministers of the two countries to speak in more detail about this.

Responding to a question about the strategic partnership document signed last year, the Georgian FM recalled that the two countries and peoples have centuries-old friendship, as stated in the document.

“This is a potential that can further enrich the agenda and promote cooperation to better represent bilateral interests. Cooperation in many domains is based on a solid foundation, and we intend to further enrich relations,” Botchorishvili added.
