YEREVAN. - Coming year is more favorable to change the authorities in Armenia. The authorities are unable to change the situation, while the opposition is more organized than during previous presidential elections, head of Democratic Homeland party, the participant of opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) Petros Makeyan said at a press conference. 

When the ANC was involved in the dialogue with the authorities, the Arab world was facing revolutions, he added. Makeyan stated that an active part of the society still believes in victory and is ready to continue the struggle for reestablishment of the constitutional system in the state. The ANC will stand for the upcoming year with these intentions.

Makeyan also stated that there are several reasons why the next year is favorable for changing the authorities.

“All the political subjects washed their hands off the March 1, 2008, case by blaming only Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan. Parliamentary oppositional ARF Dashnaktsutyun left the ruling coalition, while ruling coalition member Orinats Yerkir is a political corpse for a long time. Coalition member Prosperous Armenia Party tried for many times to get rid of President Serzh Sargsyan’s leash. However, it still fails. After all, personnel changes may work against Sargsyan. Moreover, society is politically more mature,” Makeyan concluded.
