The emergency meeting in Paris on Ukraine, which attended by representatives of some European countries and aimed at reaching a consensus on future action, including sending peacekeepers, was marked by sharp disagreements among the participants, the Financial Times reports.

A dispute erupted over sending troops to Ukraine during a crisis meeting between European countries. Germany, Italy, Poland, and Spain stated on Monday that they did not want to send peacekeepers to Ukraine, hours after the UK proposed deploying European forces there.

According to officials familiar with the meeting, France proposed deploying troops behind the future line of contact.

However, after the Paris meeting, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said the discussion on troop deployment was extremely inappropriate, given that the conflict is still ongoing.

Such a discussion is premature, and now is not the right time for it, Scholz said. The German chancellor added that he is irritated by such discussions, calling them an incomprehensible argument at the wrong time and on the wrong topic.
