YEREVAN. – The People’s Party Chairman Tigran Karapetyan will not be nominated with the majority system in Armenia’s upcoming parliamentary elections, but the Party will run in the elections with the proportional system, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.

“Karapetyan himself told this in a conversation with our reporter. To the question as to why he does not wish to be nominated with the majority system, he said: ‘Because I do not want to be just an MP; I want to have a [parliamentary] faction.’ Karapetyan also noted that he would have liked for his party to have as many seats, at the [National Assembly] NA, ‘as the people would vote, or as many as possible.’ To the question as to, in his view, how many votes he would receive, Karapetyan responded: ‘I do not indulge in fortunetelling. What’s important is for the people to have an alternative,’” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
