The terms “gender” and “gender identity” will be excluded from all existing laws of Georgia, announced the country's ruling party Georgian Dream, reports Novosti-Georgia.

It is noted that the Law on Gender Equality will be renamed the Law on Equality of Women and Men.

The initiators of the amendments are deputies of the Georgian Dream and its coalition partner, the Power of the People party.

“In Georgian legislation, for a certain period of time, under the influence of foreign representatives and their active lobbying, the artificial term “gender” was purposefully introduced. This was a kind of reflection of global processes taking place in the world, and in some cases it became an insurmountable obstacle for the state to take a principled position against this trend,” the explanatory note reads.

The term “gender issues” will be replaced by “issues of equality of women and men”, and “gender intolerance” will be replaced by “intolerance to equality of women and men”.

The term “gender sensitive” will be changed to “ sensitive on the basis of sex” and so on.

The draft law has already been submitted to the parliamentary committees for consideration.
