American billionaire Elon Musk said he is in the process of moving away from his nearly round-the-clock job at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to focus on his business,NBC News reported.
“Now we're getting into a rhythm,” Musk told reporters at the White House. - So the amount of time I need to spend here is much less, and I can get back to running my companies that really need me."
He said he was confident DOGE could continue without his direct day-to-day involvement, but declined to say who would lead it in his stead.
“It's a way of life, like Buddhism,” Musk said. - You wouldn't ask who would lead Buddhism."
Musk told reporters that he intends to keep the “comically tiny office” he was assigned on the top floor of the West Wing, where he admitted he sometimes played the video games Diablo and Path of Exile on a large monitor he hooked up to his computer.
Musk's company Tesl,a this month, reported a significant drop in first-quarter profit and revenue.
The billionaire noted that after a busy first three months of US President Donald Trump's administration, when he sometimes slept at the White House at Trump's invitation, he now plans to work on DOGE projects just one or two days a week and be present in Washington once every two weeks. This shift will be a significant change.
Musk has been a constant presence at the White House, albeit in a temporary position. He and his team wielded extraordinary power over federal agencies, sometimes clashing with cabinet members.
