Europe and the “ Kyiv regime” are trying to mar the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazi Germany. This was reported by the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) on May 5, Izvestia reports.

According to the agency, Europe continues to adhere to revanchist approaches to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and indulge Kyiv.

“This is how the decision of the German authorities not to allow the ambassadors of Russia and Belarus to attend commemorative events across the country should be interpreted,” the SVR said.

In addition, the agency emphasized that some European leaders show cynicism, expressing their intention to accept the invitation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to visit Kyiv to participate in events that are an “alternative” to the May 9 celebrations in Moscow. In their opinion, the circle of invited European countries fully corresponds to the configuration of Hitler's coalition that fought against the USSR.

It was also noted that the warnings of the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas to member states and candidates for EU accession in case their representatives come to the celebrations in Russia look disdainful, which has already been expressed by the leaders of Slovakia and Serbia.
