Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party’s ex-footballer MP from Istanbul, Hakan Sukur, signed a contract, with the country’s Lig TV television, on providing commentaries for sports games. 

The Turkish MP will receive a monthly salary of 150 thousand liras (approx. US$ 90,000) for his commentaries. And in response to the criticisms made against him in this regard, Sukur said making sports comments is his hobby, Posta daily of Turkey informs.   

In 2008, Hakan Sukur had signed a two-year contract with the state-run TRT television and received a monthly salary worth close to $40 thousand.

To note, a Turkish MP’s monthly salary is close to $7,000.

Before retiring from football in 2008, Hakan Sukur played in Turkey’s leading clubs and the national team, and he received several awards.
