YEREVAN. - No serious incidents were registered in Yerevan’s number 1 electoral district during the pre-election campaign, MP candidate from Heritage Party Stepan Safaryan told at a press conference on Friday. He is registered in electoral district number 1.

He added that the volunteers of his campaign actively visit voters in their apartments and present them the program.

According to Safaryan, the pre-election campaign is rather peaceful in number 1 electoral district unlike the other districts where people try to inflict fear to the voters. Particularly in the rural areas, authorities try to frighten the voters and prevent their meetings with opposition members. Those who meet with opposition representatives are filmed so they have to be very careful, he said.

Opposition Heritage Party is a liberal party founded in 2002. The leader is the first Armenian Foreign Minister Raffi Hovannisian.

Heritage and Free Democrats Party are running for the parliament with joint proportional list.

The proportional list of the party includes members of extra-parliamentary opposition Free Democrats Party and civil society representatives.

Heritage has also nominated MP candidates with the majority election system.
