YEREVAN.- Russia’s Rostelecom is investing in Armenia over $12 million, company’s representative said.

Hayk Farmazyan, Director General of GNC Alfa, Rostelecom’s subsidiary in Armenia, said the investments made $10 million in 2012. A five-year plan of capital expenses makes $30 million. During this period, the company plans to cover 80% of Armenia’s territory.

Next year the company plans to develop access to broadband network in number of cities in Armenia.

The total length of fiber-optic network in Armenia is about 2,500 km. The company is the operator of external Internet traffic in Armenia and communication provided for corporate clients. On December 18 the company announced the entry into the retail market under “Rostelecom” brand.
