Ahead of Thursday, April 24, 2014, the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, the Turkish media reflected on US President Barack Obama’s annual statement.

The Turkish media noted that Obama once again is expected to use the expression “Meds Yeghern,” meaning “Great Catastrophe” in Armenian, to characterize the Genocide.    

The Armenian resolution, which passed in the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, has little chance of passing the House of Representatives, and Obama will say “Meds Yeghern” this year, too, reported Posta daily of Turkey.

Turkishny website likewise wrote that Obama will not say “genocide” and use the expression “Meds Yeghern.” The website also recalled that no US president, apart from former President Ronald Reagan, had used the term “genocide.”
