At the July 8 session, RA Government approved the candidacy of Sergey Bagratyan for the post of Governor of Vayots Dzor Marz.

According to the coalition quota, the position of Governor of Vayots Dzor belongs to Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP). The party nominated Bagratyan as a Governor, after the former Governor Vardges Matevosyan passed away.  

Sergey Bagratyan participated in the 2007 parliamentary elections, but lost to the RPA (Republican Party of Armenia) member Samvel Sargsyan. He is an entrepreneur and President of “Sergey Group” LLC.
