YEREVAN. – The suspect in murder of a six-member family is at the Russian military base of Gyumri where representatives of the Armenian and Russian law enforcement agencies had arrived, deputy head of investigation committee Vahagn Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He added that in fact Valery Permyakov pleaded guilty. Everything happened very fast, and he was acting alone, Harutyunyan said.

In Permyakovs words, when it came to a baby, the gun misfired and he decided to stab a child with a bayonet.

Asked whether the suspect is mentally ill, Harutyunyan said an examination will reveal the details.

Earlier head of the Surb Astvatsatsin medical center Nikolay Dallakyan told reporters that the child is in a grave condition. The six-month-old baby was taken to Yerevan from Gyumri.

Six members of a family were shot dead and a six-month-old baby was wounded in Gyumri on Monday. The city’s Russian military base serviceman Valery Permyakov is the main suspect in this crime. A criminal case is opened on this tragic incident. Permyakov was apprehended near the Armenian-Turkish border, in the vicinity of Armenia’s Bayandur village.
